Instructor Aaron Butler's martial art studies began with Kenpo at age eight and continued for three years. In high school he picked it up again at the Center for Self Defense where he studied and trained in sparring and fighting techniques. Later he began taking basic Jujitsu classes and learned the fundamentals boxing in the gym while attending college. After starting up these basic training regiments he began training in earnest. He began taking classes at the Academy of Health and Martial Arts, studying Shaolin Longfist, Hung Gar & Kenpo Karate under the supervision of Master Rath and Instructor Tess. Within a month Instructor Aaron was attending as many classes as possible. He continued training for several more years and received his black sash in Kung Fu and Shodan (1st Degree Black) in Kenpo.
As part of Instructor Aaron’s training he has focused and began the life long study of the internal martial arts of Chinese Kung Fu. These arts include Yang style Tai Chi Chuan, Bagua Zhang and Xingyiquan. During this time, Instructor Aaron began sharing his experiences in martial arts by assisting and teaching classes.
In the spring of 2004 Master Rath opened another school that Instructor Aaron has managed since that day. The Academy of Health & Martial Arts in Manchester, NH opened on October 11, 2004 and is now being run with a growing student body under the guided supervision of Instructor Aaron.
Instructor Aaron has since then earned his second degree black sash in Chinese Kung Fu and Nidan (2nd Degree Black) in Kenpo. As well as these foundation styles Instructor Aaron strives to better his martial art skill through other aspects of martial arts training including additional techniques and concepts, meditation, Taoist yoga, Chi Gung, different sparring methods, grappling, push hands etc. He hopes to be able to develop and spread these diverse aspects of training through his teaching to develop his students into healthy, well rounded and enthusiastic martial artists.
